Shawn Harrison Spielman – Saturday, January 18

         Shawn Harrison Spielman will be called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah at Congregation Ner Tamid on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. He will be reading the Torah portion Shemot.

         Shawn is a 7^th grade student at Thurman White Academy of the Performing Arts where he enjoys playing viola with the orchestra and advanced piano. He is a member of the National Junior Honor Society at Thurman White, Student Council, and is an A-B Honor Roll student. Shawn’s interests include piano, fencing, chess, traveling, and hanging out with his friends, especially those from his summer camp in California.

         For the past four summers, with the assistance of CNT Sisterhood’s Camp Scholarship program, Shawn has attended Camp Ramah in Ojai, California. This experience has deepened his connection to his Jewish faith, helped him form lifelong friendships, and motivated him to return each year. This past year, Shawn has enjoyed becoming a Shabbat“Teen” member of the Shabbatones and participated in the MENSch Club’s building of the sukkah.

         Shawn’s Bar Mitzvah Project is to support the Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces (FIDF). This organization holds a special place as he feels it allows him to connect to his heritage and give back to those who protect our homeland.
