DELANEY ROSE KANTER-VILLAREAL – Saturday, October 26, 2024

Delaney Rose Kanter-Villareal is excited to be called to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, October 26. She will be reading the Torah portion Bereshit.

Delaney is an 8th grader at Thurman White Academy of the Performing Arts where she is majoring in theater. She is a kind, outgoing, and bright young lady. Delaney is an honor roll student, a member of the National Junior Honor Society, a member of the Thurman White Cheer Team, and had the honor of being selected as a Thurman White Academy Magnet School Ambassador. She loves to sing and perform. She takes vocal lessons and is a member of the Rainbow Theater Company Ensemble. She also loves to cook and bake!

For her Mitzvah Project, Delaney is collecting donations and raising awareness for something that has impacted her life since she was three-years-old. Delaney is one of 33 million Americans who have a life-threatening food allergy. Delaney has a goal of raising $1,000 for FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education). Please support the food allergy community by donating to her project.

Her Bat Mitzvah is also very close to Halloween, which is one of the most difficult holidays to navigate for families with food allergies. Beginning in October we ask the Congregation to pin their house on the FARE website Teal Pumpkin Project Map, hang a teal pumpkin close to the front door, and commit to providing non-food treat options for Halloween. Construction paper teal pumpkins to decorate and hang on your door and the QR code for the Teal Pumpkin Project Map will be available in the CNT Religious School office beginning in October.

Delaney plans to continue her Jewish education through the new Kesher program, CNT’s Tribe, and becoming a Madricha. We are very proud of her hard work and connection to the Congregation Ner Tamid community. We are excited to see where this next chapter in her life takes her.

In loving memory of Delaney’s father David Villareal.
