Torah Study With Scholar-In-Residence Barry Schwartz
Saturday, April 13, 2024 • 5 Nisan 5784
8:45 AM - 10:00 AMCNTIN-PERSON! SCHOLAR-IN-RESIDENCE WEEKEND!!
TORAH STUDY @ 8:45 a.m.
Rabbi Barry L. Schwartz, our Scholar-In-Residence, will lead us in the study of “Discovering a Healing Haftarah: the Remarkable Story of Elisha and Na'aman” (the Haftarah portion for the week, which is 2 Kings 4:42-5:19). You can come prepared by reading ahead and noting your questions: read the (mostly) full portion HERE (you’ll have to scroll-back to Chapter 4, then scroll down to verse 42+). Join us in person online by clicking HERE. (I’ll do my best to give a good, steady visual .... but only promise that you'll be able to listen well).
There will be a short intermission, and Rabbi Schwartz will lead another study of “Judaism's Great Debates” at 10:00 a.m. Some may choose to participate in traditional Shabbat morning liturgy with the Bar Mitzvah (see below), or stay for most of Rabbi Schwartz’s lecture, leaving early for Kaddish,... or staying fully for the lecture (all are acceptable).
Purchase one of Rabbi Schwartz’ books and have him autograph it during the weekend! (See flyer below)
Later that evening (Saturday, April 13) at a private reception for Menorah Level Donors, Rabbi Schwartz will present “The Banality of Antisemitism: A New Doctrine Filled with Half-Truths, Misdirection, Revisionism, and Willful Ignorance.”
Contact Roberta Unger for more information: (702) 733-6292 or runger@lvnertamid.org.
TEFILLAH / PRAYER @ 10:00 a.m.
If you choose to join in prayer and celebration, rather than the second lecture, you can join Nathan Lieberman as he is called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah. Those of us in-person will move to the Main Sanctuary; those of us joining online will have to participate by any of the following: CNT LiveStream HERE, or Facebook LiveStream, or CNT's YouTube Channel HERE. Join us by clicking HERE and selecting "Live Stream" at the top of the screen.
OUR JEWISH HERITAGE @ 12:00 noon
We will continue our study of our Jewish Heritage, as we return to Josephus’ Antiquities of the Jews and Maccabees. Join us by clicking HERE.
